Bobrek’s Warrior Talent Specifications

Welcome to my Talent Spec page, for warriors. This page will be split up into three sections.

Protection: For those of you who love to guard your fellow gamers.

Two Handed DPS: For those of you who like to bring the weight of a 6 foot weapon to a point right between the eyes of an enemy.

Duel Wielding DPS: For those of you who like to look flashy/poky when you’re whittling away the health of an enemy.

Please bear in mind that these talent specs are just my opinion of what’s good, and although I may come across as being a smart-alec I’m really thicker than a cream yoghurt. Anyway, I like em and maybe you will too!

Protection

My first protection spec is the one that I use personally at level 70. Unfortunately I haven’t had any luck with embedding WoWheads talent calculator into WordPress so here’s a link to the spec

Bobrek’s personal tanking spec

This spec is a full out defensive spec. I’ve taken all the talents which increase my chance to survive, however I have exlcuded improved disarm and improved shield bash due to the fact that many high level mobs/bosses are immune to both. I’ve chosen to take arms as an assist to the protection tree because it allows me to incrase my parry rate by 5% and get improved thuderclap.

Extra threat tanking spec

This spec is more or less the same as the last spec, however heading through the fury tree allows for more threat due to cruelty and unbridled wrath (more damage and more rage). Heading this way allows you to chose between improved demoralising shout or blood craze, and with just three talent points to spare I would prefer blood craze. Useful for both raids against physical AND magical enemies, and also useful for soloing.

Two Handed DPS

My first two handed dps spec is the one that I am personally working towards with my horde character (I use the pvp version). It is a fury/arms hybrid spec that I find works quite well, which I prefer playing to a full arms spec as I like to use beserker stance.

Bobrek’s fury/arms spec (pve)

It is important to note that I have talented Sword Specialisation for the purposes of demonstrating my spec, however you should specialise to whichever type of weapon style you prefer (Polearms, axes, swords or maces).
As you can see I have headed deeply into the fury tree and have picked up enrage and deathwish. These skills are particularly good for pve dps as they allow you to increase your damage without using crappy threat skills like heroic strike. In my opinion, heroic strike should only be used by tanks or in PvP, if you’re dps’ing in a raid group don’t use it. The PvP version of my spec also picks up Mortal strike which is good for using against those pesky healers, wether you’re actually targetting them or not!

Full arms spec

In this spec I have headed fully into the arms tree, picking up skills like improved overpower and rend. Therefore this spec is not well suited to the Beserker stance and is much more accesible when using Battle stance. It is balanced for both pvp and pve, and yet again I have ignored improved heroic strike as I don’t find it to be useful in PvE.

Duel Wielding DPS

I have made two specs for this section. The first is a full out dps spec which I helped my girlfriend to develop when she was raiding with a dps warrior. The second is a hybrid dps/tanking spec aimed at warriors who wish to dps in raids but be available to off tank those tricky encounters.

The full out dps spec

First of all I’d like to point out that the one point in improved heroic strike is just to get to the third tier in the arms tree, do not use heroic strike in raids, it’s rubbish! Instead aim for improved cleave, but be careful when using it that you don’t break crowd control warriors (some noobs have a habit of doing that and giving our class a bad name). Aside from that it’s a pretty standard spec aimed at max dps with the least threat. Pew pew.

The hybrid tanking spec

I’ve dropped all the points that had been spent in arms in the previous spec, sacrificing a little damage to allow myself to obtain anticipation, tougness and most importantly defiance. Without defiance you won’t be able to hold aggro very well and on some encounters, such as Moroes, you won’t be able to out aggro the healers.
It is possible to drop the three points in shield specialisation in favour of three percent parry but the lower your block rating the more you open yourself up to those painful crushing blows.

That’s it for my specs, feel free to leave your comments or ideas, but please be constructive and refrain from using language please. This is not a mature website.

  1. I loved my spec and rocked the house until TBC … *sigh*. Those were the days.

  2. I like the various builds, and will test them as I reach 70.
